Free Movie night at the Intrepid: Apollo 13

On August 21st, the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum will be opening up their flight deck and showing Apollo 13. Admission is free, and is limited to 1,300 people on a first come/first serve basis. Doors open at 7:30pm and the movie starts at 8:30pm.You can bring lawn chairs, blankets and food/beverages. No alcohol is allowed. For those who have never been: The museum is home to the U.S.S Intrepid aircraft carrier, the Growler submarine and a British Airways Concorde. The movie will be shown on the flightdeck of the aircraft carrier (approx 5 stories above the water). You'll be able to enjoy a fantastic view of the Hudson River surrounded a collection of Cold War aircraft, including a A-12 Blackbird spyplane, a F-14 Tomcat and a few MiG airplanes (very romantic, I must say). The U.S.S. Intrepid is located on Pier 86, where 46th street meets Hudson River. Directions by NYC Metro BusTake cross-town buses west. M34 (34th Sts), M42 (42nd St.) or M-50 (49th St.) to 12th Ave. and Hudson River. Intrepid is a short walk North from the M34 and M42. The M50 drops off immediately in front of the Intrepid.

Take the A, C, E, N, Q, R, S, W, 1, 2, 3, 7, or 9 train to 42nd St., then walk or take the M-42 West Bus to Hudson River (12th Ave). Walk North to Intrepid.
