Brooklyn Funk Essentials & Husnu Senlendirici with NY Gypsy All-Stars

This show brings together the groove-heavy Brooklyn Funk Essentials with Husnu Senlendirici for the first time since 2007. Released a decade ago, their now-classic album "In The Buzbag" was one of the first albums to successfully explore the depths of two musical cultures worlds apart: Brooklyn jazz, gypsy funk, acid-jazz, reggae, dub and beyond. The event will once again re-introduce the innovative, eclectic funk of the Brooklyn Funk Essentials to their native New York – now with added flavors and spices from Turkey. They have played to hundreds of thousands of fans in Turkey, and sold equal amounts of records there, and will bring back the funk with Husnu to their home turf. This show will also celebrate the release of Brooklyn Funk Essentials' latest album Watcha Playin'.
Brooklyn Funk Essentials will make a short appearance at "Istanbulive: The Sounds & Colors of Turkey" at Central Park SummerStage the same day 2pm - 7pm. The event presents the colorful culture of Turkey and the musical richness of Istanbul.
