The School - Okul .... by Asik Veysel
I saw the wealthiest mind in the world
Asked it the outlay, the school it replied.
It is serving the humanity, the help you provide
My mercy, my feelings, the school it replied.
Creating fire from water, that is the best art
The idea to spread many more light
Did I discover them with this thought?
These are my guides, the school it replied.
Is that a miracle or a talent?
Would the heart perceive that if the eyes do not?
Would an unclaimed soil be plowed?
With the combine, the school it replied.
You would fly in the sky, if you wear wings
You would pass through the seas ungratefully
How would you perceive the cold and the rain?
They have built observatories, the school it replied.
Various vehicles and the trains
Doctors who find cures for all pains
Is it you who did that
This is not all it can do, the school it replied.
I was amazed by the radio
Can speak in every language, but not alive
Created by science, by the human mind
Its light is its wave, the school it replied.
Human mind is inventing these things
It is the science, the essence of the world
The core of all those works
Believe in this Veysel, the school it replied.
Dünyanın en zengin aklını gördüm
Sermayesin sordum dedi ki okul.
İnsanlara hizmet yaptığın yardım,
Merhametin duygum dedi ki okul.
Dünyayı ışığa kaplarsın kat kat
Fikriyle mi ettin bunları icat
Rehberim oldu dedi ki okul.
Bu bir keramet mi yoksa hüner mi
Göz görmezse gönül buna kanar mı
Öksüz tarlada sapan döner mi
Eker biçer motor dedi ki okul.
Kanat takar gökyüzünde uçarsın
Denizleri müdanasız geçersin
Soğuğu yağmuru nasıl seçersin
Rasathane kurmuş dedi ki okul.
Çeşitli taşıtlar bir de trenler
Hekim olup her yareyi saranlar
Bunu sen mi yaptın yoksa erenler
Daha neler yapar dedi ki okul.
Radyo hayrete düşürdü beni
Her dilden biliyor yok amma cam,
İlim akıl fikir yaratmış bunu
Lambası dalgası dedi ki okul.
İnsanlar kafası bunları bulan,
İlimdir dünyada hakikat olan
Bütün bu işlerin temelim kuran
İnan buna Veysel dedi ki okul” diyor.

A walk in the park
There’s that man sailing, strutting his skills on the water
And those four old spires of Ellis Island, faking the elegance of a Taj Mahal
There’s Lady Liberty and the old Jersey Train Terminal
Manhattan, Brooklyn all ending right here
At l’il ‘ol Paulus Hook
A gentle breeze, warm and cooling blows in my face softly
And I think, yes this is the life I thought I’d live, but never visualized…
I’m a big believer in visions
Was it Stephen Covey that said
You are what you envision,
What you aim for
Is what you become?
Maybe it was Lee Iacocca…
Either ways, I’m a big believer
And yet, this is not a place I could’ve imagined for myself
Or given myself credit for
Not that it is to my credit that I live here -
One of life’s surprising rewards
For just... living it
One reads of such things
One dreams of living in a place that has a name
But no face
And then life takes you there
And you wonder, if you had envisioned this
Where then would you be today?
Is life meant to be lived contentedly?
The very possibility makes me feel like a guilty child;
Compulsive avarice for living as much as I can
Has overtaken me -
As if I were terminally ill
But then, if I sleep tonight, will I really wake up in the morning?
Aai, you set me on this path of aspirations
I know you did not intend to make it my addiction
But there it is, I am addicted to moving on
Living my life as if I were caught up in a storm
And flapping my hands wildly about
Was the only means to survival
Y’know, one day I found that I couldn’t run anymore -
My legs could carry on, but my lungs would forget to breathe
Until I stopped to think about it
And voila, I could run again
Is that what I need to do with my life?
Just remember to keep breathing?
Just remember to take a walk in the park?
And enjoy a smug smile privately
For another bright vision I had had
That brought me here?

Sex and The City & Manolo Blahnik's 2008 Collection.
ok I usually do not wrote about fashion , as it is not my area of expertise, but when you live in the capital of the fashion world (or at least New Yorkers like to think that way) and know every corner of the city by heart of where the tv show and the movie of "The Sex and The City" takes place, you cannot avoid to hear the magical, irresistible name of "Manolo Blahnik".

**** Revolinski's observations will resonate with those of any outsider who has come to love Turkey and Turkish culture. Experience a year living in Turkey!Part travelogue, part memoir, The Yogurt Man Cometh is the story of Revolinski's year-long adventure as an English teacher in Turkey, with all of its ups and downs and its constant surprises. From his home base working for a private school in Ankara, he relates in remarkably candid style his encounters in a foreign culture: his first experiences as a teacher, forays into classroom discipline, navigation of a new language, attempts at cross-cultural flirtation, explorations of timeless and surreal landscapes, acquisition of a taste for raki and success at making numerous lasting friendships--all told with an open mind and a sense of humor. An enjoyable read for anyone who has spent time in Turkey or who plans to do so; Revolinski's observations will resonate with those of any outsider who has come to love Turkey and Turkish culture."The Yogurt Man Cometh is as entertaining as it is informative - as well as being especially recommended reading for anyone considering embarking upon their own business or recreational trip to Turkey."
