It's been almost 2 years that I purchased these lamps and unlike the other projects around my apartment, this was put on hold because I could not find an electrician who has license, time or the skills. Oh well, finally I found someone who could help me with this project and here is the result. Isn't it grand?

Sarajevo-born Goran Bregovic is a seminal figure in the Yugoslav rock world, a film composer who has been likened to Ennio Morricone and Nino Rota, and a collaborator of artists as varied as Iggy Pop and Cesária Évora. Kicking off his first North American tour at Celebrate Brooklyn with his enormous band—featuring brass, a classical string ensemble, an all-male choir and traditional Bulgarian and Roma singers—he marries the dance music of a raucous gypsy wedding with Eastern European choral arrangements in what Spain’s La Vanguardia has called, “a mind-blowing return trip with no destination or port of arrival…a magnificent concert, one of the greatest marvels to be heard on stage today."

Please note: specific locations for senior and handicapped accessible seats are not available through the virtual ticket lines.
Register anytime and then log on between midnight and 1PM on the day of the performance you want to see to submit a request for up to two tickets on either the general or Senior virtual line. You must log-on again between 1PM-6PM to see if you have been selected to receive a pair of tickets. People are chosen at random, not in the order requests are received.

Pick up your FREE tickets to Shakespeare in the Park on the day of the performance beginning at 1PM at The Delacorte Theater in Central Park. The closest entrances to the Delacorte are at 81st Street and Central Park West or 79th Street and Fifth Avenue. There is a limit of 2 tickets per person.
Please note that there are separate ticket lines to accommodate people with disabilities and senior citizens aged 65 or older (proof of age or disability is required).
ADDITIONAL POLICIES:
Ticket Policy: Tickets purchased from unauthorized sources (e.g. Craigslist, eBay, and other resale venues) may have been lost, stolen or obtained improperly. The Public Theater/ Shakespeare in the Park has the right to deny admission to the holder of these tickets. Any ticket purchases from unauthorized sources are at the buyers’ own risk and do not guarantee seats at a performance.
Rain Policy
In the event of rain the start of the performance may be delayed. However, the production will be performed if and when it is possible to do so. If a performance is canceled due to rain or any other reason, tickets are not valid for re-issue or exchange.
Concessions/Food Policy
The concession stand offers an assortment of snacks and beverages including sandwiches, soda, wine and beer. Theatergoers are allowed to bring food/beverages into the theater as long as everything fits under their seat. However, no glass containers are allowed inside the theater.
Line Policies
Public Theater staff will begin monitoring the free ticket lines before or by 10:00AM on performance days. The line monitor will explain and enforce the procedures and policies regarding ticket distribution. Such policies were designed to maximize fairness for all fans of Shakespeare in the Park.
• No cutting, jumping, or saving spots in line is permitted. The entire party must arrive together.
• If you leave the ticket line for any extended period of time, for any reason, you will forfeit your place in line
• You must line up along the path designated by Shakespeare in Park and The Parks Department
• Any disagreements about the order or policies of the ticket line will be settled at the discretion of Public Theater management.
• Tickets will be distributed starting at 1:00PM, on performance days.

Painted on Water - Sertab Erener and Demir Demirkan / guest Al Di Meola
PAINTED ON WATER, the self-titled album project by the duo of vocalist Sertab Erener and composer/guitarist Demir Demirkan, is more than a breath of fresh air – it’s one of the year’s unexpected pleasures, a unique excursion through jazz, rock and the duo’s own Turkish musical and cultural heritage. The album will be released on Motema Music June 9, 2009. Produced in Los Angeles and Istanbul by Painted on Water’s Demirkan and nine-time Grammy winner Jay Newland (Norah Jones, Herbie Hancock, Charlie Haden, Michael Brecker), PAINTED ON WATER moves in a warm, fluid, and organic way between jazz, modern rock, and pop-flavored vocal compositions featuring Erener’s sensual, evocative lead, and fusion-jazz instrumentals anchored by Demirkan’s guitar. Each of the album’s songs is inspired by the melodies of Turkish Anatolian classical and folk music, with English lyrics written by Demirkan and by veteran No. 1 songsmith Phil Galdston (Madonna, Celine Dion, Vanessa Williams).

Films on the Green is going… green! For its second year running, the popular free outdoor French film festival will feature movies about the environment and the beauty of the natural world. Following the remarkable success of last year’s inaugural “Films on the Green,” the Cultural Services of the French Embassy and the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation have once again joined forces to present a selection of seven critically acclaimed French films that will be screened every Friday at sunset in city parks during the months of June and July.
The festival’s opening night will see the U.S. premiere of Home, a feature documentary and global call-to-action directed by famed aerial photographer Yann Arthus-Bertrand. Shot entirely from the air, over a two-year period and in 54 different countries, Home gives viewers a new perspective on the planet, and a new awareness of the importance of protecting it. The screening will take place at Cedar Hill (79th St & 5th Ave) in Central Park, on Friday, June 5, in association with the United Nations Environment Programme. In a world first, Home will be released simultaneously in movie theaters, outdoors during public screenings, on DVD, online and on television, all on World Environment Day (June 5) in over 100 countries. Co-produced by Europacorp (Luc Besson’s production company) and Elzévir Films, and with the support of PPR Group, the movie will be distributed for free in a concerted effort to reach the widest possible audience.
Three other feature films will complete this environmental series of Films on the Green. The Academy Award winning March of the Penguins, the epic story of penguins fighting to survive in the Antarctic that made nature documentaries cool again, will be screened on Friday June 12. Microcosmos, a spectacular look into the tiny world of insects, with such highlights as bees collecting nectar, spiders wrapping their catch and a mosquito hatching, will play on June 19. Last but not least, The Big Blue, Luc Besson’s timeless and fascinating movie unfolding in the enigmatic world of free-diving, will be shown on Friday June 26. All three movies will be screened in Washington Square Park (see below for more details, including film capsules).
English-language screenings will take place every Friday of June and July (except July 3 and 31) at sunset (around 8:30pm, seating begins at 8:15pm), and will be free of charge.

On June 5 & 19, 2009 the Washington Square Music Festival, a free outdoor classical and Music of the Americas concert series, celebrates its 51st season by presenting Stravinsky Plus : two exciting evenings of great music performed by musicians who regularly play in Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the Metropolitan Opera & New York City Ballet orchestras and the Brooklyn Academy of Music. On Friday, June 5 at 8:30 pm the Festival Chamber Orchestra features Igor Stravinsky's Concerto for Piano and Winds with pianist David Oei – also works by Ludwig van Beethoven and David Taylor. On Friday, June 19 at 8:30 pm the Festival Chamber Ensemble performs Stravinsky's L'Histoire du soldat with Lutz Rath, Laila Maria Salins & David Taylor, actors, and works by Johannes Brahms & Franz Schubert with soprano Lucia Hyunju Song & pianist David Oei.
Venue is St. Joseph 's Roman Catholic Church, 371 Sixth Avenue at Washington Place in Manhattan 's Greenwich Village . FREE!
The Festival was founded in 1953 by violinist and neighbor Alexander Schneider: http://www.sasha-schneider.com/ member of the famed Budapest String Quartet, and the Washington Square Association, Inc. Over the years the concerts have become a venerable summer tradition, shaped by Peggy Friedman, executive director, our late music director Henry Schuman, and our current music director, Lutz Rath, as well as talented musicians, countless patrons, volunteers and neighborhood agencies that make the Festival such a popular cultural and civic event.
The sole activity of The Washington Square Music Festival is to present free concerts. New York has other free outdoor classical concert series, but only the Washington Square Music Festival is sponsored by a local civic organization, the Washington Square Association, Inc., which dates back to 1903 -- http://www.washingtonsquarenyc.org/ . Although traditionally out of doors in Washington Square , this summer the Festival must perform indoors because of on-going construction in the park.
The Festival often features young musicians. Several now-famous performers have appeared in Washington Square in early stages of their careers, including soprano Marilyn Horne and her husband, the late Henry Lewis, trumpeter Wynton Marsalis, violinist Tom Chiu and conductor Gerard Schwarz. Internationally known musicians who have appeared in the Square include: conductor Gürer Aykal & violinist Suna Kan (The Presidential Orchestra of Turkey), conductor and oboist Henry Schuman; composer-conductor Virko Baley, and violinist Ole Böhn (concertmaster, Norwegian Opera Orchestra), soprano Gabriella Tucci. On the jazz front, the Charles Mingus Orchestra, Felix Swing Band and Panama Francis and His Savoy Sultans have made the audience in Washington Square Park dance in the aisles while Johnny Colon and His Orchestra brought classic salsa to the Park, and Cuartetango String Quartet brought sizzling Argentine tango with authentic dancers.
The Washington Square Music Festival is made possible with public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, New York State Council on the Arts, a state agency, New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation through the good offices of Senator Thomas K. Duane and Assemblymember Deborah J. Glick; and New York City Councilmember Alan J. Gerson. US Recording Companies fund in part the instrumental music for the series, as arranged by Local 802, American Federation of Musicians. Generous grants from The Horace W. Bestselling American humorist David Sedaris will read from his latest collection of essays, When You Are Engulfed in Flames. Sedaris' sixth book assembles essays on such topics as how to make coffee when the water is shut off, buying drugs in a mobile home in rural North Carolina, having a lozenge fall from your mouth into the lap of a fellow passenger on a plane, lancing a boil from his backside and venturing to Japan in order to quit smoking. This event is free and open to the public, but reserved seating is no longer available. There is, however, plenty of standing room. Those who reserved a seat online should go to the Basement Info Desk to pick up their ticket, the day of the event. Seating will begin at 5:00PM.
